The Challenge: Two people, six bars, 12 shots

The Players: Kerry Leonard, Metromix producer and Thomas Hardwicke, Metromix photographer and contributor.

Shot No. 4: The chocolate covered candy cane shot at the Mudlounge, mixed by the friendly Jacob, tested by Thomas.

Ingredients: chocolate vodka, chocolate liquer, peppermint schnapps, Ghirardelli chocolate

Price: $5

What it tastes like: A rich, RICH chocolately delight with an invigorating, warm, minty finish.  You probably only need one as an after-dinner treat, but then again there's a reason real chocolates come in those bulky boxes -- can one have too much?
I'm not super crazy about chocolate, but for you choco-holics out there, this is a must try.  The shot was pretty thick and reminded me of a chocolate malt.  It's definitely designed to be enjoyed in smaller sips rather than a single slam.

This is the shot version of the Mudlounge's holiday martini of the same name, the "Chocolate-Covered Candy Cane".  One of the best things about this shot is its garnish: a miniature candy cane hooks on the side of the glass and acts as a swizzle stick that slowly dissolves and adds even more mint flavor.  Forget those little tropical umbrellas, I'll take candy anyday.

Whether you need a tasty after-dinner shot to warm you from the cold or have a wicked sweet tooth, this shot will satisfy.
