12 Shots of Christmas: No. 6

The Challenge: Two people, six bars, 12 shots

The Players:
Kerry Leonard, Metromix producer and Thomas Hardwicke, Metromix photographer and contributor.

Shot No. 6: The Gingerbread shot at Big Whiskeys, shaken by Nate, sipped by Thomas.

Ingredients: Frangelica, Goldschlager, Jagermeister and Bailey's.

Price: $5

What it tastes like: An incredibly smooth, creamy drink version of the versatile holiday cookie. Not only can a gingerbread man be eaten, but we've also been putting the same gingerbread cookie ornament on our family tree for years. Although the little guy may have lost some limbs when it was placed on a low branch and our dog got to it. Honestly, the shot smells just like grandma's house after she bakes her holiday cookies. That and if she celebrated finishing her baking with one of her famously epic cocktail parties.

The Goldshlager provides a strong cinnamon kick that is balanced with the buttery cream of the Baileys and the hazelnut flavor of Frangelica.  Maybe a sugar rim on the shot glass would have even added more to the cookie experience.  However, Nate the bartender was more than generous with the serving size.  It was definitely too big for a single slam.

This Gingerbread man shot definitely tastes a lot like Christmas and is a whole lot less annoying than the Shrek version.
