Shot No. 10: An apple pie shot from Fedora Social House, mixed by the trendy Wes, downed by Thomas.
Ingredients: Goldschlager, Apple Vodka, Buttershots, cream and a sprinkle of cinnamin
Price: $6
What it tastes like: A delicious slice of sweet and tart pie. Every solid American citizen knows what a good piece of apple pie is supposed to taste like, and this shot is pretty dang close. Using the mastery of balancing flavors, Wes the bartender beautifully blended cinnamon-flavored liqueur and apple vodka. The definite kicker was the combination of the Buttershots with the graham cracker crumb-encrusted rim. That really gave me the impression of the flaky, buttery crust that is essential for a good apple pie.
You definitely can taste the booze, but the cream really helps cut down on the sharpness of the vodka. This shot is definitely meant to be enjoyed one sip at a time. Think of them as forkfuls of warm pie a la mode. The only thing I could suggest adding would be a sugared apple slice for a sweet bite to go along with this tart shot. Althought it wasn't the smoothest drink to down on the list, it was a fairly close representation of what usually happens around the holidays: family dessert followed by family booze.
