Ingredients: Knob Creek bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters and a maraschino cherry

Often visited for drink roundups, we again stopped by the Mudlounge for their take on how America could best be represented in liquid form. As Bartender Jason said, "Come on, nothing is more American than bourbon from Kentucky in a drink named after a New York bourough." Jason mixed three ounces of bourbon with sweet vermouth, a dash of bitters, and a maraschino cherry.

Sipping it reminded me of cold winter nights spent reading books and mixing warming whiskey drinks. Although it was fairly well-balanced, it was just too strong for my taste. It definitely is a grown-up drink and will quickly get one in the mood to blow up some of your childhood toys with Roman candles. See you later, My Little Pony collection.
