Anti-Valentine's: Blue Baja Margarita
Romeo y Julieta's Chris had a creative take on the "anti" challenge -- he went blue. And tropical. The Blue Baja Margarita comprised Sauza Hornitos tequila, Cointreau, Creme de Banane, simple syrup, a splash of orange juice and lime juice shaken and poured into a sugar-rimmed glass. Chris mentioned that it was a little sweeter than your typical margarita, thanks to the Creme de Banane. Normally, synthetic banana flavor makes me dry heave but I didn't taste it at all in this fruity blend. If anything, it lends the drink a hint of island flavor waaaay in the background. Delighted, Thomas pointed out that it was the only drink to come with an actual weapon -- the pick that speared the garnish and rested across the glass. "You can stab your ex in the heart!" he said with a borderline disturbing level of glee.
