National Audio
After the lesson in Founders Park, cross the street to find the old factory of National Audio, which is currently being renovated. Many stories have been told of noises from stairwells after the day's work is done. Also, an apparition has been seen working the docks, holding a clipboard. This work-a-holic has been identified through old photographs as Arch McGregor, a dock worker in the early 1900's. Of course, the night I went, I didn't see Arch — perhaps he was finally taking a night off. There are other stories about a young man being killed by falling down an empty elevator shaft. Fact and myth seem to blur around this story, because the shoulder bone of a young male was found in the bottom of one of the elevator shafts, but it could have been washed there in one of Springfield's epic floods.
