Halloween Best Bets

What a lucky bunch we are this year -- Halloween lands on a Friday. We've got a list of great bets for the whole weekend and beyond that will have you tricking, treating, drinking, jamming, dressing-up and partying 'til your devilish little heart is content.

Don't forget to take your digital camera -- take pictures of your weekend upload them here so we can assemble the Halloween gallery to end all galleries, featuring you!

The Outland

pick The Outland

326 South Ave. - Springfield
417-863-9779

While in the midst of pub crawling (emphasis on the crawling element), try and resist the siren call of ANY cover band, much less an AC/DC cover band. Highway to Hell will be playing the Outland at 9 p.m. on Friday. Stop by, have a drink and get seriously thunderstruck before heading out to your next stop.

Hooter's

Hooter's

2010 E. Independence St. - Springfield
417-887-9464

You can nurse your hang over, of you can bring it back to life! Head to Hooters on Sunday for their bloody mary bar and to meet the calendar girls from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Make sure you congraulate Rachel Mundwiller -- our local girl and 2009 centerfold.

Palace Theatre

2220 W. Chesterfield Blvd. - Springfield
417-875-6200

We're hard pressed to think of a movie scarier than "The Exorcist." Indulge in the thrill of seeing this classically terrifying film on the big screen on Friday and Saturday nights at 9 p.m. and midnight. And if the idea of paying that much money for a movie is the scariest of all, the Palace has a very wallet-friendly everyday ticket price of $2.50.

Ruthie's Bar and Grill

Ruthie's Bar and Grill

400 E. Commercial St. - Springfield
417-864-8144

Ruthie's is throwing their annual Halloween Bash on Friday with Karaoke with Little Dog, a costume contest, door prizes and drink specials. It starts at 7 p.m. and there's no cover.

Big Momma's Coffee and Espresso Bar

Big Momma's Coffee and Espresso Bar

217 E. Commercial St. - Springfield
417-865-9911

If you're looking to escape the madness that is following any and all around town, slip away to Commercial Street and catch Big Momma's Back Porch Theatre's production of "Secrets." Chronicling a rural Alabama family in the 1970's, the play deals with the turmoil that occurs when a longstanding secret is revealled during a family party.

Pizza House

Pizza House

312 E. Commercial Street - Springfield
417-881-4073

Speaking of Commercial Street, swing on by to the Pizza house. That's right, *that* Pizza House. The popular Glenstone spot recently closed and thanks to an outpouring of public support, they opened their doors in a new location. Friday is their first day on C Street so stop by, welcome them to the neighborhood and get yourself a delicious pie.
