Cinco de Mayo
Well friends, it is that time again -- time to celebrate France's defeat. In 1862, the roughly 4,000-strong Mexican army defeated the French army (nearly twice its size) at the Battle of Puebla on May 5. What does this mean for us proud Americans? Why, tasty margaritas and a pub crawl.
But who are we kidding? We'd hold a pub crawl for the cancellation of NBC's Knight Rider (hint hint). So strap on your sombreros and let's help celebrate our south-of-the-border neighbors with the cold, salt-rimmed drink of choice. We here at Metromix have done some tedious legwork (you're welcome) to help you determine which Downtown establishment has the margarita for you. We stayed downtown so we could do this on foot -- no mas to cars for this mission.
You may also want to use these photographs as a guide to catch your bearings when you've face-planted on the bar with your hand wrapped around a glass, desperately trying to recall high school Spanish to locate the bathroom. -- Thomas Hardwicke Special to Metromix
