Stoller: "My brother's actually a Muppet! Jason and I wanted there to be an entry point for people who might not be familiar with the Muppets. We wanted a superfan. [Walter] represents everything the Muppets have lost sight of, their enthusiasm for putting on a show."
Hoberman: "The idea was really taking [Jim] Henson's concept and being pretty bold with it by making them brothers. One of the beauties of the Muppets and Henson and how he created them was the fact they're simply accepted in normal life. No one walks down the street, sees a Muppet and goes 'what's that?!'"
