Coldplay
Now in its second year, All Points West has already emerged as the Northeast's best and biggest answer to all those other massive American music fests (i.e. Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Coachella—the latter of which is brought to you by Goldenvoice/AEG Live, the producers of APW). Held at New Jersey's Liberty State Park, just a short ferry ride from Manhattan, the fest was supposed to start this year with a Friday, July 31 lineup headlined by the Beastie Boys—but after Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with throat cancer, the Beasties had to back out. They were replaced by another hometown hip-hop hero, Jay-Z, who joined Saturday's headliners Tool and Sunday's headliners Coldplay for a bill as diverse as the tri-state area itself.
Metromix writers and photographers were all over All Points, capturing the action and trying not to get mud on their cameras (yeah, it rained—a lot). For our complete All Points West coverage (including backstage interviews with Vampire Weekend, St. Vincent, Ra Ra Riot, Silversun Pickups and many others), head over to our Metromix New York and Metromix Jersey Shore sites. In the meantime, feast your eyes on some of our best images from All Points West, including performance photos of Hova, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National, the Ting Tings, Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, Lykke Li and more, right here in this gallery.
