Looking back at Nirvana's 20 greatest moments (no, Dave Grohl's sweater was not one of them)
Twenty years after the release of “Nevermind,” it’s obvious how badly the world needs another Nirvana. A blistering band that writes songs so simultaneously edgy and accessible they’re beloved by counterculture misfits and sorority girls alike—and exposes the plastic music clogging our airwaves and ears for what it really is: lame. Unfortunately, a new band of that ilk probably isn’t going to emerge anytime soon (even though a couple versions of an expanded “Nevermind” reissue are).
So, to honor the 20th anniversary of “Nevermind” hitting the streets, we’re looking back at Nirvana’s 20 coolest moments. Hopefully a badass rock group will come along soon and give us some new oomph. We’ll be waiting.—Matt Wake, Special to Metromix
