Turkey panini and garden salad
One thing I could say about the ordering process, it certainly was easy. With the combo meals, you choose a bread (swirl rye, wheat berry or sourdough), a meat (turkey or roast beef), a cheese (mozzarella, swiss or provolone) a topping (tomato bruschetta or olive tapenade) and a side (soup or garden salad). I said to my lunch partner, "What are you thinking?" She replied, "Turkey. Sourdough. Swiss. Tapenade. Salad." So I went the exact opposite way. The ingredients were fresh and tasty and the final product was hot and crunchy -- the way a good panini should be. My lunch pal's salad was of the same quality -- fresh field greens, cherry tomatoes, dried cranberries topped with a fruity vinaigrette and feta cheese. Even with the cheese in the sandwiches and the cream in my soup, everything felt very light and healthy.
A note on the panini: with the combo meal, they are served as a half-sandwich. It's not a big deal to me because I rarely finish the second half of my sandwich when I eat out anyway, but someone of a more sizable appetite might still be a little peckish when this is all through. Then again, if you're looking for a big, macho, greasy mess, you are likely not heading to a coffee shop. This is lighter fare of good quality -- so keep that in mind if you're craving fried dough or something.
