Roast beef panini and tomato basil bisque
The menu is small -- really small. It's a little limiting if you don't eat meat or are looking for something a little more veg-heavy, but they are first and foremost a coffee shop. A huge menu, at this point, may be overkill. With that said, they can get away with the limited menu because what they have is featured is really quite good. We both chose the Combo Meal, which comprised a half of a panini sandwich, a pickle spear and either a soup or salad, pretzels or chips and and iced tea. It was a good amount of food for $5.95
I had the roast beef panini with provolone and tomato bruschetta topping on swirl rye. I chose the tomato basil bisque soup as my other half and chips as my side. The roast beef was juicy and flavorful and the tomato topping gave it a nice sweetness. I had forgotten how much I loved rye bread and vowed to get it more often. And, well, melted provolone makes everything better.
The soup was also delicious. Tomatoes were blended with basil, midly spiced, and mellowed out with a touch of cream and served in a bowl that was borderline too small. I love tomato bisque so usually the amount restaurants dole out feels too dinky to me. If this serving had been about 50 percent bigger, I would have been thrilled. The soup selection changes weekly but if you drop by on a tomato week, definitely give it a try.
