Lucy's Chinese Food
Call me ignorant, but the name "Lucy's Chinese Food" is as disconcerting as the premise behind "Power Rangers" (why are these teenagers doing backflips again?). All hesitations aside, I ordered and grabbed a table. Lucy's is a local chain and boasted several "Best of Springfield" certificates on the wall, so I was hoping it would impress.
Pros: When the food came, the lunch portion was just about perfect for a quick takeaway back to work. The small size will also only set you back $3.85. The breading stood up to the thinner sauce and didn't get soggy.
Cons: The sauce was a little watery, and the chicken was not that flavorful. In fact, it was a little on the bland side. The most flavorful element of the dish was the chopped scallion garnish. It also didn't taste like the chicken was made to order, but had been made a while back. Although it's definitely an economic choice to turn to during the current national financial black hole, I wouldn't spend the gas money to eat this dish again.
The Price: $3.85 -- tax included
Overall Score: 3 out of 5. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't outstanding -- just kind of middle of the road. In the world of Giselles, Heidis and Claudias, this is just... Lucy.
