Have now been here for lunch and dinner. Recommend the black bean burger and the fish tacos. For brunch, the Bloody Mary is top notch.

Good food, decent service and ambience

This is one of those places that you really do have to try for yourself. The food and wine list were great but everything else was just average. Definitely worth trying but I don't think it will be one of my regulars.

Great for larger groups

We needed to find a restaurant in Wicker Park/Bucktown with good food that would easily accomodate 10 people. Feast worked out great. Everyone enjoyed their meals (the porkchop with corn tortillas was excellent). My only complaint would be that the service was a little slow.

Waste of time
By Andyville from Andersonville, May 5, 2008

The appetizer (fried calamari) was too greasy.
One of my dinner companions ordered a salad which never came.
I ordered my steak medium rare, it came well done.
3 people, a $175 bill, not worth it.

not for dinner

can't speak for brunch or lunch, but definitely not a good place for dinner. boring interior, and what's with that weird island in the middle of the room? pass on the blue cheese stuffed olives in the martini, they were funky, or old or something. given we got the "deep fried platter" for apps, but it was way greasy, mussels were okay. forgot a salad that we ordered, though the waiter was apologetic. had to flag someone down for water refills. had the bbq salmon, might as well have been open pit sauce. steaks were over cooked, hash was salvation. heard the skirt steak was pretty good, mashed taters dry, bland. felt like could have gotten that calibre food at a chili's or ruby tuesday.

Surprisingly bad service

I've enjoyed many a meal at Feast over the years, but after Saturday's brunch experience I don't think I will go back again.
The hostess was on the phone when we arrived, and did not acknowledge us until she finished her long conversation. Many servers were standing areound, but did not acknowledge our presence either.
My friend and I ordered our favorite breakfast dish, French toast with blueberry/peach compote. This arrived stone cold and soggy. We would have complained had our waiter ever returned to the table.
My husband enjoyed his Eggs Benedict very much, but agreed the service was laughably bad. Really a disappointment!

Very good food, great service and a good selection of vegetarian and meat dishes. Wine list is extensive and a good value. Desserts are fair to good. Great coffee and tea.

Feast was a fest for the less than famous
By frp0511 from West Loop, January 10, 2008

I went to Feast for the first time last night with a friend...we fully intended to only have a few drinks, then the fiancee joined us, and we decided that we would have dinner at the bar. After a few glasses of wine -- the bartender and the hostess (who is a certified sommelier) had excellent wine knowledge and made fantastic recommendations! I rated the ambiance and service as "great" as we were three of very few people in the entire restaurant (it was a Wednesday night), and the only ones in the bar (it would appear that others have had less than exemplary experiences...but, grain of salt people). I had the rigatoni special (with a tummy truffle cream sauce), and I can't begin to describe its incredible tastiness, rihcness and heartiness (and, our hostess paired it with a nice wine). My friends had the turkey burger (for the meat lover, THIS was a meaty burger....completely fooled me as a healthy alternative to ground beef), and the pork chops (whoa -- great sauce, and that enchilada/taco side "thingy" should be a dish of its one!). We had a great time, and didn't realize that by the time we left, the kitchen staff had gone home! I look forward to my next visit....the 3rd Wednesday of every month for their wine tasting!

Loved our Feast
By Bridget from Chicago, December 2, 2007

Overall rating:

Made reservations for dinner at 7:30 for 5. Two were caught in traffic didn't arrive till 8. Hostess was nice about it - seated us as soon as they arrived.

Dinner was EXCELLENT. After just spending 8 days in the islands, I hesitantly ordered tuna - and I was not disappointed. Probably the best fish I'd eaten in a long while.... Husband ordered the chicken and goat cheese gnocci - as did another diner and that was excellent too.

One disappointment was we ordered the fitto misto (fried mixed fish and veggies) and it came without scallops. When I asked the server about the scallops he said there weren't supposed to be scallops in there. I told him to check the menu. After confirming I was correct he said he'd see about getting us some. He then returned to tell us that the scallops were not good hence the reason not included. He did not offer a substitution, nor a discount on the price. One would have thought after such an exchange he would have considered making the appetizer complimentary or offering a free dessert or something????

In any case - overall we give this dinning experience a 9.5 / 10. It was a fun evening with great food.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER...
By John B. from Chicago, IL, September 7, 2007

Overall rating:
2

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT. We made a reservation the Sunday evening before Labor Day and arrived on time. We sat at our table for 20 minutes without even seeing a waiter. It did not seem particularly busy, but if they were understaffed, I could have forgiven the waiter IF ANYONE HAD ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGED OUR PRESENCE. After 20 minutes, my wife informed the hostess that we hadn't even seen our waiter. The hostess came to the table, took a drink order and said our waiter would be right with us. After 5 more minutes waiting for drinks, we decided to leave. When we left, the hostess was standing at the door seemingly unconcerned. The couple at the next table also left after waiting nearly as long without seeing a waiter. Perhaps Feast should drop the "e" from its name in order to better represent the experience of dining here.
