Bruschetta
The bruschetta arrived promptly, and I was curious to see how Bambino's would interpret this classic Italian staple. Usually, the bread is toasted or grilled and topped with fresh olive oil, crushed tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil. These crucial ingredients definitely made it into this recipe, but the topping was in a bowl on the side, which was very different. On another note, this recipe was more than generous with the garlic. I know having some garlic is supposedly good for your heart, but after eating this bruschetta mix you will be able to pick up a car (at least with your breath).
Overall, I thought it was a unique presentation and the tomatoes were really delicious. There were chopped in huge chunks, and most importantly, they were fresh and brilliantly red. Oftentimes in restaurants, the tomatoes you receive are pale pink and sad looking, but not at Bambino's. I was excited about this choice but it might not be the best option, especially if you're on a first date. Nothing says, "I don't see this going well" quite like a goodnight kiss full of garlic.
