There's always time for wine
Credit:Thomas Hardwicke / Special to Metromix
Having ordered my entree, it was time for some vino. This Farnesse Montepulciano was described in the menu as being made from "red fruits and prunes, with an essence of vanilla." Prunes? Vanilla? Prunes are notorious for the powerful 'punch' they can pack, but I still was tempted enough give it a go. I found this red to be bold and crisp, a delicious offset to any hearty meal. Sweet and tangy, the vanilla essence is so slight, it hardly registered. Steak or pork may also go well with this wine.
