Ali Baba
On the one hand, you have hummus. On the other hand, you have this hummus, which apparently has been on an aggressive flavor bender and is taking us all down with it. It's hummus on speed and it's good. Really good. The Ali Baba (as its called here) is thicker and more textured than some of that stuff you get that's been pureed to death, and they do not skimp on the garlic. The zesty lemon juice cuts its strength and its accompaniments only make it better. The menu said that the hummus comes with pita, but instead we were served delicious, salty, crunchy, not-the-least-bit-greasy homemade tortilla chips and fingers of pressed, lightly toasted bread (pictured). My dining companion, upon her first bite of the hummus with the toast, mumbled something akin to, "Ohmygod, thisismynewfavoriterestaurant." Hummus: $4.65
