The San Francisco Melt
I inhaled this sandwich -- delicious. Roast beef, swiss cheese tomato, onion and 1000 Island dressing on grilled sourdough. I thought I hated 1000 Island dressing and thinking about it, I'm reminded of that one "Simpsons" episode where that pimply-faced manager of Krusty Burger says that they're out of "Special Sauce" and they need to "put some mayonnaise in the sun." Yeesh. Ketchup, mayo and pickles mixed together sounds horrific but you know what, it was pretty delightful on this sandwich. I'm not sure I'd dump it on a salad but it really worked in this context. The beef was hearty but lean and the sauce and cheese rounded out its more assertive flavor. That's a lot of jibba-jabba for it just being dang good. It comes with a pickle spear, a hot, pickled pepper (that I dropped on the floor) and a bag of Lays chips ($6.79).
