South-siders need some downtown love too, ya' know. And now, with a new Big Whiskey’s American Bar & Grill location just off Republic Road, the love has arrived.
A dining and nightlife staple of downtown Springfield, Big Whiskey’s has been a favorite of traditional bar fans for a while now. With their well-known happy hour, burger specials and friendly staff, it’s no wonder the downtown Whiskey's is packed on any given Saturday night. But, does the new southern location live up to the great reputation, fun atmosphere, good service and delicious food of the downtown original? We decided to find out.
Armed with a friend whose hunger for a good burger could only be soothed with the best of the best--and with my own need for a root beer float on a ridiculously hot day--we drove across town to the south side Big Whiskey’s to investigate.
