Let’s be honest: HBO really hasn’t been worth the extra $9.99 a month since Sundays were either “Sex and the City” or “The Sopranos.” We still have big love for shows like, well, “Big Love,” but our favorite polygamous Mormons won’t be back until 2009. And as much as we’re intrigued by “True Blood,” there’s enough on the free channels this fall to keep us otherwise occupied. Set aside that extra monthly money for something you really want to watch, like that “Six Feet Under” box set you’ve been meaning to buy.
